Iran imported 92 tons of meat from Kazakhstan in two batches using Boeing 747 aircraft of Iran Air, Trend reports via Fars News Agency.
According to Iran Air, as the first batch (51 tons of meat) were imported from Kazakhstan's Taraz Airport to Iran's Payam Airport.
The second batch of the meat import (41 tons) was shipped from Kazakhstan's Shymkent Airport to Iran's Payam International Airport.
Since January 2019, the red meat prices, especially the price of mutton, soared to 1.2 million rials (roughly $28.5). Considering the meat shortage and price increase, Iran increased its meat imports in order to regulate the prices at the domestic market.
