“I met my distinguished colleague Dr. Taleh Ziyadov, Director General of Baku International Sea Trade Port in Bulgaria last year. Dr. Ziyadov visited Port of Varna and Port of Burgas. I will have the pleasure to meet him again at the IAPH World Ports Conference in China, 6-10 May where we will debate “The Belt and Road Initiative: New Opportunities For Ports“. Furthermore I am going to meet Mr. Vahid Aliyev, Deputy General Director, CJSC Baku International Sea Trade Port during the forthcoming 1st Caspian Ports and Shipping 2019 Exhibition and Conference in Aktau in May 2019. Within the Conference we will have the opportunity to discuss the current state of transport and logistics in the Caspian region and the development of multimodal transportation along the Trans-Caspian international route,” she said.

Ganchovska went on to add that BPI Co. will continue to put efforts in order support the application of Baku Sea Trade Port for an observer of the European Sea Ports Organization.

“We also consider the opportunities to activate the Persian Gulf – Black Sea Transport Corridor and use its potential in the future,” she noted.

Further, Ganchovska said that the Мemorandum signed between the two sides on September 29, 2016 is of vital importance for the mutual cooperation between the Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company and Baku Sea Trade Port.

“It gives the opportunities for encouraging greater collaboration between respective national port management authorities,“ she said.

As for the process of personal training as part of cooperation with Baku Port, Ganchovska noted that BPI Co. is looking forward to performing these activities during this year.

Bulgarian Ports Infrastructure Company (BPI Co.) manages the port infrastructure of the public transport ports of national importance and provides traffic management and shipping information services.

BPI Co. has four territorial and three specialized divisions in Burgas, Varna, Lom and Ruse.

The cargo transshipment potential of the Baku port within the first phase is 15 million tons, including 100,000 containers per year. Seven berths out of 12 existing ones serve dry-cargo ships, two berths serve ferries, and another two berths serve the Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax vessels. Another berth is used to service the flotilla of the port.
