Iran exports more than 500,000 tons of hot briquetted iron

More than 500,000 tons of hot briquetted iron (HBI) produced by the Persian Gulf Saba Steel plant (located in Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province) were exported last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Morteza Yazdkhasti, Managing Director of the Persian Gulf Saba Steel plant, told reporters, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

According to Yazdkhasti, 8 trillion rials (app. $190 million) of revenue were made thanks to the exports.

Yazdkhasti added that the products were exported to European and Gulf countries through the Shahid Rajaee port.

"This year (started 21 March 2019), 35,000 tons of HBI worth $8 million were exported to European countries through the Shahid Rajaee port," he said.

Persian Gulf Saba Steel plant began the production of HBI in 2017. The annual production capacity of this plant is 1.5 million tons.

The plant is located in the Persian Gulf Mining and Metal Industries Special Economic Zone.
