Slovenia offers its Port of Koper for Azerbaijani businesses and is convinced there are opportunities for ports from both countries to cooperate, Slovenian Foreign Ministry told Trend.
“Slovenia's Port of Koper provides an excellent gateway for goods flow in and out of the European Union. We recommend it also for businesses from Azerbaijan to use it,” said the ministry.
The Foreign Ministry said that there are opportunities for cooperation in the sphere of investments.
“According to the Bank of Slovenia in 2018 no Slovenian direct investments in Azerbaijan neither Azerbaijan's direct investments in Slovenia were recorded. According to information from the Association of Friendship between Slovenia and Azerbaijan from there is an increased interest of Azerbaijan to invest in Slovenia. The Slovenian business community has welcomed the establishment of a Slovenian-Azerbaijani Business Council in March 2016 in Ljubljana. There is certainly room for improving cooperation in this field,” said the ministry.
As for the prospects for opening direct flights between the capitals of Azerbaijan and Slovenia, the ministry said it is not realistic for the moment.
“We believe that more could be done to promote the beauties of both countries and attract more tourists from Azerbaijan to Slovenia and vice versa. Currently it is not realistic to open a direct flight because the numbers are not there,” said the ministry.
