A steel ingot plant has been commissioned in Sirjan county of Iran’s Kerman province, Executive Director of the Sirjan Steel Plant Ali Abbasli said, Trend reports via IRNA.
He said that the plant produced 100 tons of steel at the first stage.
Abbasli added that the plant will produce 1.2 million tons of steel ingots per year.
He said that foreign companies abandoned construction of the plant as a result of the US sanctions against Iran, noting that the plant was put into operation through the efforts of local engineers.
He added that 2,000 people were provided with jobs with the commissioning of the plant.
