Iran and Iraq intend to develop their trade relations; accordingly, there are no new restrictions on trade relations between the two countries, said Naser Behzad, Iran's trade attaché in Baghdad, Trend reports referring to the website of Iran Trade Promotion Organization (TPO).

According to him, there was a slight decline in Iran's exports to Iraq from the beginning of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), due to Novruz holidays and the recent floods that hit the country.

Behzad adds that it is forecasted that Iran's exports to Iraq will increase by 2 percent during the 2nd Iranian month compared to the 1st month.

Commenting on Iran's non-oil exports to Iraq, the trade attaché said that Iraq currently has a record in trade with Iran among neighboring countries. As such, last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Iran's exports to Iraq increased by 49 percent in terms of weight and 37 percent in value terms.
