Douglas Frye, Senior Business Development and Loan Officer, Global Infrastructure, Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) will visit Uzbekistan on a working visit on May 15-19, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Foreign Ministry which cited the Uzbek Embassy in Washington.

The delegation’s agenda includes participation in the work of the first Uzbek-American-Canadian business forum in Navoi on May 16- 17.

Douglas Frye will also hold talks with the leadership of the ministries of finance, agriculture, investment and foreign trade, the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan (NBU), Asaka Bank and Uzpromstroybank.

It is planned to discuss the expansion of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and the United States at the meetings as part of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the NBU and Eximbank, signed during the visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States in May 2018.

The memorandum provides for the allocation of loans of up to $100 million to US companies operating in the market of Uzbekistan.

On May 8, the Senate of the US Congress approved the candidacies of three members of the Board of Directors of the Eximbank of the USA proposed by the White House administration.

Thus, the quorum for making decisions on the allocation of large loans to US companies that participate in important infrastructure projects abroad, including in Uzbekistan, which was absent from 2015, has been restored.

Uzbekistan and Eximbank of the US resumed cooperation after a 13-year hiatus, in September 2017.
