Belarus discussing prospects for co-op with Turkmen agriculture sector

A delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus has arrived in Ashgabat, Trend reports with reference to the Belarusian embassy.

The delegation was headed by Belarus Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Grakun, who is also the chairman of the CIS Intergovernmental Council on Seed Production.

During the meeting, Ambassador of Belarus Oleg Tabanyukhov with a delegation from Minsk discussed the prospects for the Belarusian-Turkmen cooperation both in a bilateral format and within the CIS in seed production, plant growing and the agro-industrial complex as a whole, the report said.

A meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Council on Seed Production is taking place in Ashgabat, where there are plans to consider more than ten topical issues.

Tomorrow the Belarusian delegation will visit the exhibition of achievements of the Turkmen agriculture, as well as take part in the “round table” meeting of experts in the field of agriculture of the CIS countries.

Turkmenistan grows cotton, wheat, rice, sugar beets and melons.
