Trade turnover with EU reduces, with CIS increases in Georgia

In January-April 2019, Georgia exported goods worth $276,2 million to the EU and goods worth $576,5 million to the CIS, Trend reports with the reference to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In comparison with the same period of the previous year, the growth is 14.3 percent and 34.1 percent respectively.

Out of total volume of exports from Georgia, 50.9 percent were sent to the CIS countries and 24.4 percent to the European Union.

As for imports, goods from the EU countries amounted to $709.7 million, which is 26 percent of total imports to Georgia. Compared to the same period of the previous year, imports from the European Union decreased by 14.7 percent.

Imports from the CIS countries also decreased. They amounted to $773.4 million, which is 11.8 percent less than the previous year. The share of CIS countries accounts for 28.4 percent of total import to Georgia.

Overall, trade turnover in the first four months of 2019 amounted to $985.9 million, which is 8.2 percent less than in 2018. Trade turnover with the CIS countries reached $1 350 million and increased by 3.3 percent.
