The German company Roland Berger and Uzbekistan authorities have agreed to design a road construction development strategy within a contract worth 2.6 million euros, Trend reports with reference to a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
The text of the document states that the new strategy should provide for the introduction of modern standards and technologies in the design, construction and reconstruction, and the repair of roads, depending on their categories, to improve their quality and extend service life.
The agreement aims at the establishment of cooperation with leading German engineering companies in the design of highways and artificial structures in order to apply advanced foreign experience in developing roadside infrastructure facilities.
Uzbekistan also plans to start cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany, and leading companies of the country with the purpose to introduce advanced methods and technologies for the road construction and operation. Furthermore, joint ventures for the production of modern building materials used in the construction and operation of roads in the country may be created.
Uzbekistan intends to change approaches to the construction of roads and infrastructures and gradually introduce the procedure for carrying out and accepting completed construction and installation works by road facilities via transferring contract work into a volumetric indicator.
Uzbekistan and the German company Roland Berger GmbH tentatively agreed to cooperate in the development of a concept for the future development of roads in November 2018.
