Iran to release imported basic goods by June 21

Head of Iranian Road Maintenance & Transportation Organization in Khuzestan Province has announced that the basic goods will be loaded for transfer from Imam Khomeini Port by mid- June.

"By implementing necessary plans and using capacity of the private sector major part of imported basic goods at Imam Khomeini Port will be loaded by June 21," said Gholamhossein Daghagheleh, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

He said the transit goods on some 3,000 trucks will be sent off from the Imam Khomeini Port per day.

The head of Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran Adel Daris has recently indicated that about 80 percent of imported basic goods arrive to the country via Imam Khomeini Port and it is an important port as far as food security goes.

"The port has the capacity of storing some 3 million tons of grain, while it has added some 18 million tons of capacity to store basic goods," he added.
