By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

The wheat harvest is scheduled to start in the Ahal, Lebap and Mary provinces of Turkmenistan on June 5, while in the Balkan and Dashoguz provinces it will commence on June 12, Trend reports with reference to the published presidential order.

A State Commission has been established to “ensure the quick and lossless harvesting of grown crops, its uninterrupted transportation to warehouses and implementing timely settlements with grain producers.”

This year, it is planned to harvest 1.60 million tons of food grain from 760,000 hectares of land. For the wheat production, the state provides seeds, mineral fertilizers and means for combating agricultural pests on preferential terms.

In 2019, production costs for growing wheat will be 1,449.77 manats per hectare, but tenants will only refund 687.54 manats. Thus, more than half of the expenses of grain growers is subsidized by the state, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported earlier.

The official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat (TMM) to one US dollar remains at the level of 3.50 TMM since early 2015.
