Iran's tire industry has high capacity to provide tires for car brands such as Peugeot, Samand and Pride, satisfy the domestic market demands and create 16,000 new jobs, said Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran.
"The tire production is planned to reach 290,000 tons in current Iranian year [started on March 21, 2019]," Farshad Moghimi noted, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"Addressing problems of tire industry is a priority, as it provides 70 percent of the tires needed in the country and produces 60 percent of raw material," he added.
"Industrial associations that are aware of challenges facing the industry should offer their expertise to the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade in order to solve the problems and prevent possible production cut," he said.
According to statistics, Iran produced 201,800 tons of tires in 2018, which is 9.8 percent less than in the preceding year.
