In January-May 2019, Azerbaijan exported goods worth $8.62 billion, which is 16.9 percent more than in January-May 2018, Trend reports referring to the country's State Customs Committee.
The share of the public sector in exports amounted to $5.18 billion, the private sector to $3.41 billion, and individuals to over $25 million.
During the period, Azerbaijan exported mostly oil and oil products, natural gas, fruits, vegetables and electricity.

During this period, imports amounted to $5.83 billion, which is 51.3 percent more than in January-May 2018.
The share of the public sector in imports amounted to $2.32 billion, the private sector to $3.19 billion and individuals to $325.9 million.
The most popular products imported by Azerbaijan during the period included various machines, vehicles and spare parts for them, ferrous metals and products made from them, wheat, plastic and plastic products.

In general, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by almost 28.7 percent amounting to $14.45 billion in January-May 2019 compared to the same period of 2018.
The positive balance in the period amounted to $2.78 billion, which is 20.89 percent less than in the same period last year ($3.52 billion).
During this period, Azerbaijan exported 2,187 types of goods and imported 6,692 types of goods.
There were 160 countries among Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners.
The highest export and import volumes during the reported period were observed in April. In this month, the volume of exported goods equaled $2.61 billion, while imports amounted to $1.43 billion. The monthly increase in exports in April amounted to $1.18 billion, in imports - $455.8 million.
