Turkmenistan considers int’l practice of regulating customs payments

The conference entitled “Tasks of Establishing Customs Payments and Their Legal Basis” was held in Ashgabat, Trend reports referring to Turkmen State Customs Service.

The representatives of the Turkmen Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Ministry of Justice and entrepreneurs also attended the conference, organized by the department of customs payments of the Turkmen State Customs Service.

During the event, special attention was paid to the legal basis of custom duties, the international practice of their regulation and setting customs duties on agricultural products.

The importance of the digitalization system in the development of the national economy was also emphasized. The participants of the conference spoke about the possibilities of the Automated System for Customs Data "ASYCUDA World".

Earlier, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov called for the State Customs Service to actively use the advanced international experience while inspecting goods transported through the border.

Ashgabat considers the development of large-scale North-South and East-West transport corridors, an increase in the capabilities of the Central Asia-Persian Gulf communication network and the development of transport links in the Caspian Sea-Black Sea region to be a priority for its policy.

These projects concern the expansion of transport and communications between the Central Asian countries with the further access to the markets of Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East. In particular, sea shipping in the Caspian Sea is becoming important in Turkmenistan’s foreign economic relations.

The volumes of cargoes handled at the harbor berths is growing, through which industrial and agricultural equipment, automotive equipment, metal products, timber, mineral fertilizers are supplied to the country, while polypropylene, coke and oil products, chemical and building products are supplied abroad.
