By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

Over 1.014 million tons of wheat has been supplied to Turkmenistan's harvesting centers, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen government.

Achieving such a high result gives confidence that the farmers will cope with the main task of the 2019 harvest, which is to collect all the grown crops without loss and to hand over 1,600,000 tons of selected grain, the Turkmen state news agency writes in its commentary.

Wheat harvest started in early June in Turkmenistan.

In 2019, the country is planning to harvest 1.6 million tons of grains from 760,000 hectares. More precisely, the country is expecting to harvest 450,000 tons from Ahal province, 380,000 tons from Mary province, 350,000 tons from Lebap, 300,000 tons from Dasoguz and 120,000 tons from Balkan province.

About 2,000 combine harvesters of "CLAAS", "John Deere", "Case", "New Holland" will be involved in the harvest.

For the wheat production, the Turkmen state provides seeds, mineral fertilizers and means for combating agricultural pests on preferential terms.

In 2019, production costs for growing wheat will be 1,449.77 manats per hectare, but tenants will only refund 687.54 manats. Thus, more than half of the expenses of grain growers is subsidized by the state, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported earlier.

The official exchange rate of the Turkmen manat (TMM) to one US dollar remains at the level of 3.50 TMM since early 2015.
