Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan developing business partnership

The Embassy of Turkmenistan, together with the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, held a round table meeting in Bishkek on the development of the Turkmen-Kyrgyz business relations, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The event included the presentation of the first Caspian Economic Forum to be held August 12 in the Awaza tourist zone.

The Kyrgyz side was represented by President of the Kyrgyz Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Danil Ibraev, Deputy Minister of Economy Dastan Kadyrov, and Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on the Use of Industrial, Energy and Natural Resources Zhyrgalbek Sagynbayev.

The meeting participants drew attention to the important role of the Caspian Economic Forum in expanding regional and international trade, as well as transport and logistics relations.

The topic of state support for the development of entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized businesses in Turkmenistan, and the possibilities for attracting foreign investments in the country’s economy were also touched upon, the ministry said.

It was earlier reported that Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed the prospects for cooperation in the creation of processing enterprises.

The parties agreed to support the creation of joint ventures aimed at the markets of the EU, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and China. Kyrgyzstan is also negotiating with the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan to look for opportunities to increase trade.

Turkmenistan is ready to consider the possibility of joint mining and processing of minerals in Kyrgyzstan. The parties are discussing the prospects of partnership in industry and transport.

Besides, Kyrgyzstan is negotiating the possibility of receiving natural gas from a future branch of the Turkmenistan-China pipeline for providing the southern regions of the country with gas.

The construction of the 4th branch "D" of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline via Kyrgyzstan is scheduled to commence by late 2019.

Overall, the new branch "D" is intended for the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China route.

The additional branch's rate of flow is expected to be 25 billion cubic meters of gas, which will allow Turkmenistan to bring the volume of its natural gas exports to China to 65 billion cubic meters annually.
