Uzbek airports may be transferred to Russia's Novaport Holding

The Russian company Novaport Holding may sign a concession agreement with three airports in Uzbekistan (Samarkand, Namangan and Urgench cities), Trend reports via Sputnik Uzbekistan.

All civil airports in Uzbekistan are currently part of Uzbekistan Airways.

At the end of May 2019, the government of Uzbekistan and Novaport Holding signed an agreement on the modernization and development of airports in the mentioned three cities of the country.

Now the parties are preparing a draft concession agreement.

Director of the airport management department of the national airline Uzbekistan Airways, Anton Khojayan noted that the concession agreement can be signed in four months.

Novaport intends to take airports in concession management for a period of 40 years, said the message.

The first stage of modernization will be the reconstruction of terminal and runway of Samarkand Airport, modernization of airfield infrastructure in Urgench, and expansion of the passenger terminal in Namangan.
