Azerbaijan’s AzGranata company to expand range of non-alcoholic wine

The Azerbaijani company AzGranata, which produces wine and pomegranate juices, has expanded the range of non-alcoholic wine, head of the sampling department of the company Galib Mammadov told Trend.

“Presently, the company produces three types of non-alcoholic wine,” he said.

"Our company produces white, rose and red non-alcoholic wine,” Mammadov stressed. “Among them is Kahraba white wine, which is considered the most popular wine in the domestic and foreign markets. This is the most expensive wine worth 19 manats."

“The company has its own vineyards and pomegranate orchards in the country’s districts,” he added. "We intend to produce dry wine by using Georgian Saperavi and Rkatsiteli grape varieties."

He stressed that the company eyes to start to produce new types of wine soon. "We plan to start to produce new types of wines from two grape varieties - Shiraz and Riesling, originated from Iran and the Alps, till late 2019," Mammadov said.

“The company's grape plantations cover about 500 hectares and are located in the country’s Shamakhi district at an altitude of 710 meters above the sea level, while pomegranate gardens are located in Agsu district,” he said. “The company’s processing enterprise is also located in Agsu.”

"The company received about 10,000 tons of pomegranates in 2018, which were used in the production of wine,” Mammadov added. “At the same time, we also buy the best pomegranates from farmers and local residents."

He stressed that presently, the company's products are exported to more than 30 countries.
