Uzbekistan, Belarus to create seed cluster

The Center for Seed Development at the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Belsemen Society of Belarus signed a document on establishing cooperation in introducing seed production on the basis of a public-private partnership through the creation of a modern seed cluster, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.

The document was signed within the framework of the I Forum of the Regions between Belarus and Uzbekistan held in Minsk on July 29-30.

It also provides for ensuring the export of seeds abroad and enhancing the skills of farmers in this area.

The Belsemena Society coordinates the production of original and elite seeds of agricultural plants in amounts necessary for the subjects of seed farming of agricultural plants of Belarus. It cooperates with more than 20 countries of the CIS and Europe.

As it was noted at the Forum of Regions, there are all possibilities in order to develop trade and economic relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan and increase the volume of trade by $1 billion in the near future.
