Uzbekistan increases exports of fruits, vegetables by 25%

In the first half of 2019 Uzbekistan increased the export of fruits and vegetables, compared to the same period in 2018, in real terms by 25 percent to 738,500 tons, in money terms by 35.6 percent to $628 million, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In particular, during the reporting period, the export of vegetables increased in physical volume by 25.9 percent to 540,100 tons, in monetary terms - by 65.8 percent to $312.2 million, fruits and berries - by 22 percent to 144,500 tons and decreased by 0.3 percent to $236.7 million, respectively.

Deliveries of grapes to foreign partners increased by 54 percent to 42,800 tons and 2.7 times to $67.9 million, peanuts - decreased by 49.2 percent to 6,000 tons and by 18.6 percent to $7.9 million, fresh watermelons and melons - grew by 59.4 percent to 5,100 tons and by 61.9 percent to $3.4 million.

The largest importing countries of Uzbek fruits and vegetables in physical terms were Kazakhstan – 204,600 tons (decrease by 9.3 percent), Russia – 89,800 tons (increase by 31.1 percent), Turkey – 41,300 tons (an increase of 5.2 times), Ukraine – 39,000 tons (an increase of 24.4 times) and Kyrgyzstan – 27,400 tons (an increase of 37 percent).

In monetary terms, the largest volumes of export accounted for supplies to Kazakhstan - $ 78.5 million (an increase of 18.2 percent), Kyrgyzstan - $ 64.6 million (an increase of 9.6 times), Russia - $38.9 million (an increase of 7.5 percent), Pakistan - $29.8 million (an increase of 3.6 times) and Afghanistan - $24.6 million (an increase of 7 percent).

Earlier it was reported that in January-June 2019, Uzbekistan increased the yield of vegetables by 1.7 percent compared to the same period in 2018 to 2.97 million tons, fruits and berries - by 3.3 percent to 949,900 tons, grapes - by 19.9 percent to 36,900 tons, melons and gourds - reduced by 3.4 percent to 184,000 tons.
