Share of hybrid cars in Georgia reaches 36.4%

About 36.4 percent of cars imported into Georgia are hybrids, Trend reports referring to the 2018 report of the Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

The first place among imported cars is held by gasoline-fueled cars (38 percent share), 24.3 percent are diesel cars and only 0.85 percent are electric cars.

Most of the cars were imported to Georgia from the US, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Turkey.

According to statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, last year Toyota cars accounted for the largest share of imported cars, Mercedes-Benz ranked second and Ford ranked third. Opel and BMW held fourth and fifth places respectively.

In 2018, the following brands were the most popular in Georgia: Toyota - 23,771 cars, Mercedes-Benz - 5,322 cars, Ford - 5,206 cars, Hyundai - 4,885 cars, Honda - 3,625 cars, Volkswagen - 2,797 cars, BMW - 2,503 cars, Nissan - 2,332 cars, Lexus - 1,896 cars, Opel - 1,767 cars.
