Economic growth achieved in Kazakh regions

GDP growth in Kazakhstan amounted to 4.2 percent during January-July 2019 compared to the corresponding period last year, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the prime minister of Kazakhstan.

This became known during the Government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, during which the results of socio-economic development and implementation of the republican budget for January-July 2019 were considered.

“Positive growth is observed in construction by 11.5 percent, trade by 7.5 percent, transport sector by 5.4 percent, manufacturing sector, including in mechanical engineering by 17.7 percent, light industry by 14.3 percent, non-ferrous metals mining by 17.2 percent and in oil refining by 5.1 percent,” the report said.

“At the same time, ministries need to strengthen measures to achieve planned targets in coal mining, crude oil, the chemical industry, and ferrous metallurgy," the statement said.

“According to the results of seven months, economic growth was achieved in Atyrau, Karaganda, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, Turkistan and East Kazakhstan regions according to the basic indicators,” Mamin said.

He further noted that heads of state bodies and regions are personally responsible for achievement of the final result and planned development of budget funds.

“For the timely and high-quality implementation of the initiatives and instructions of the Head of State to improve the welfare of Kazakhs, it is necessary to continue to actively attract investments, create productive jobs, diversify the economy, increase productivity, promote exports, transfer technology and innovation,” the prime minister concluded.
