Iran to transfer water from Sea of Oman to South Khorasan province next week

Iran is to start transferring water from Sea of Oman to South Khorasan Province next week, the minimum volume is 60 million cubic meters and the maximum level will be 110 million cubic meters, said the Minister of Energy of Iran Reza Ardakanian.

"To supply water to South Khorasan province in long term, two plans have been passed - the water shortage compatibility plan and water transfer from Sea of Oman," said Ardakanian, Trend reports citing Entekhab.

"Preparations for desalination and transfer of fresh water to South Khorasan Province has been completed and the Ministry of Energy is simultaneously transferring water from Sea of Oman and implement the water shortage compatibility plan next week," he noted.

"The water shortage compatibility plan would be finalized next week and all organizations will be obligated to implement it." he said.

"By implementing the water shortage compatibility plan, the water should be consumed properly," he added.

"Due the cruel sanctions, the general state of development plans are not in optimal state but the situation in water and power sector is well, due to support of the National Development Fund," he said.

"The Ministry of Energy has 1,360 projects in the fields of water, power and waste water. Around $1.9 billion worth of credit has been allocated to these projects," he added.
