Volume of investments in Georgia’s capital amounts to $1.03B

Most of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) received in Georgia in 2018 falls on Tbilisi, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

According to Geostat, the volume of investments in Tbilisi, the capital, amounted to $1.03 billion.

The total amount of FDI in Georgia in 2018 amounted to $1.26 billion, which is 35.5 percent less than in 2017.

As for the regions, the largest investments were made in Kvemo Kartli ($87.028 million), Adjara ($75.555 million), Samtskhe-Javakheti ($44.795 million), and Imereti ($26.269 million).

In terms of the sectors of economy, the largest amount of FDI accounts for the financial sector ($271 million), although investments in this sector fell by $37 million compared to 2017. It is followed by the construction sector ($173 million) and transport and communications ($163 million).
