Most trips of Georgian citizens abroad are to Turkey, Azerbaijan

In the second quarter of 2019, the majority of the trips by Georgian citizens abroad were made to Turkey and Azerbaijan, reaching which is 255,300 and 117,900 visits, respectively, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).
More specifically, Turkey accounts for 44.3 percent of visits made by Georgian residents abroad, Azerbaijan - for 20.4 percent, Russia - for 7.5 percent, Ukraine - for 1.6 percent, and EU countries - for 10.3 percent.
According to Geostat, the cost of visits in the second quarter of 2019 amounted to 617.5 million lari, with the average cost of a visit amounting to 1,100.7 lari.
In the second quarter of 2019, nearly half of the trips by Georgian citizens abroad were made by people aged 31-50 years.
In the reported period, the number of Georgia citizens going abroad amounted to 417,100. They made 325,600 tourist and 235,400 excursion type visits. It is noteworthy that 60.3 percent of visitors-residents of Georgia were only tourists, the share of sightseers alone was 34.6 percent, and 5.1 percent of visitors were both tourists and sightseers.
The largest number of visits in the second quarter of 2019 - 37.3 percent was made with the aim of visiting friends and relatives.
