Work to launch direct flights between Kazakhstan and major Chinese city underway

Currently, within the project of launching direct flights between Nur-Sultan and Shanghai, the frequency of flights and the aircraft to implement them is being selected and the market analysis is underway to determine estimated load factor of the flights, Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan told Trend.

As stated by the committee, the regular flights on the mentioned above route have not been implemented before; however, within the existing agreements, the selected air carriers of Kazakhstan and China have the permission to implement up to 42 flights a week.

“At the moment, regular flights with cities of China are operated on the following routes: Nur-Sultan – Beijing (via aircraft A320); Nur-Sultan – Ürümqi (A320 and B757); Nur-Sultan – Sanya, Almaty – Beijing (А321 and B757); Almaty – Ürümqi (B757 and E190); and Almaty – Sanya; Almaty – Haikou (B757),” the source in the committee said.

The source stated that in order to provide transport access to Astana International Finance Center, the work to launch direct flights with leading finance centers of the world such as New York, Tel Aviv and Singapore is underway.

As reported previously, the direct flights from Nur-Sultan to Shanghai are to be launched in 2020. Corresponding memorandums of understanding were signed with one of the largest Chinese air companies China Eastern Airlines, as well as with low cost air company Urumqi Airlines. Kazakh air carriers also plan to implement flights on the route.
