Georgia plans to build three wind farms

At this stage, three wind farms are being planned in Georgia - in the village of Nigosa in Shida-Kartli, in Zestafoni, and in Kartli, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

In particular, according to the Ministry, the estimated installed capacity of the Kartli wind farm is 90 MW, and the estimated annual capacity is 340 GWh. The total investment in this project is $125 million. At this stage, a feasibility study is being prepared for the project, and the construction of a power plant is expected in 2021-2025.

The estimated installed capacity of the wind farm in the village of Nigosa is 50 MW, with an estimated annual capacity of 180 GWh, investment amounted to $75 million. According to the Ministry, the process of concluding the memorandum is already underway, and construction will begin in 2020.

Estimated installed capacity of the Zestafon wind farm is 50 MW, annual capacity is 162 GWh, investments are $60 million. At this stage, the project is preparing for a feasibility study, and the construction of the power plant is scheduled for autumn 2020.

In general, according to the Ministry of Economy, the country's wind energy potential is estimated at about 1,500 MW.
