By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

In Turkmenistan, it is intended to increase the plan for the collection of raw cotton to 1,250,000 tons by increasing the cultivated area up to 620,000 hectares next year, Trend reports referring to Turkmen Agriculture Ministry.

This is due to the high value of cotton and increasing export values of the domestic textile industry, the information reads.

This year, it is planned to collect 1,050,000 tons of raw material from 550,000 hectares of land.

The increase in cotton production is carried out at the expense of lands previously allocated for winter wheat. Next year, the grain wedge from 760,000 hectares will decrease to 690,000 hectares, and the volume of harvesting is planned to be limited to 1,400,000 tons, respectively.

All of the raw cotton grown in Turkmenistan is processed domestically. This year, private producers of agricultural products began to cultivate this crop on more than 25,500 hectares, receiving plots from the recently created special land fund, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper writes.
