Construction work on Uzbek cement plant completed by over 90%

Construction work on the processing line of the Akhangarancement plant in Uzbekistan has been completed by more than 90 percent, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

The president of EUROCEMENT group Mikhail Skorokhod was informed about this during his visit to the construction site of a new plant on the basis of Akhangarantsement.

Akhangarantsement JSC has been part of the EUROCEMENT group since 2006. The design capacity of the plant is 2.180 million tons of cement per year.

Earlier it was reported that, according to the president’s decree on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, it is planned to build a new cement production line with a production capacity of 3 million tons per year on the basis of Akhangarantsement. The estimated cost is $160 million.

Skorokhod also confirmed the deadlines for the completion of construction and installation works. “Launch of facilities into operation in stages in 2020-2021,” he said.

An ongoing project to build a new cement production line in a “dry” way will allow the production of 6,000 tons of clinker per day.

During the visit to the enterprise, Mikhail Skorokhod met with Head of the contracting company, General Director of Beijing Triumph International Engineering Company (BTIEC) Ma Mingliang.

Mingliang said that the general construction work of the technological line has been completed by 90 percent.

The amount of steel structures delivered to the site is 2.700 tons. Half of them are installed, and equipment is being supplied and installed.

Potential capacity of the cement market in Uzbekistan by 2020-2022 is estimated at 15-18 million tons. Uzbekistan is one of the leaders in introducing energy-efficient technologies and has the highest utilization rate of production capacities in the CIS.

EUROCEMENT group is an international industrial holding, one of the five largest world cement companies, which unites 19 cement plants in Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, as well as factories for the production of concrete, concrete products, quarries for the extraction of non-metallic materials.

The production capacity of the holding enterprises is more than 60 million tons of cement and more than 11 million cubic meters of concrete. Stocks of non-metallic materials amount to over 5.5 billion tons.
