Azerbaijan’s Ganja Aluminum Plant plans to expand the varieties of aluminum products in the medium term through opening new production lines, a source at the plant told Trend.

There are plans to increase primary aluminum production at the plant up to 50,000 tons per year, according to the source.

“In this regard, it is planned to open a second electrolysis site at the plant for the installation of electrolysis baths,” the source said. “At one time, when taking the main equipment to the balance of Azeraluminium LLC, the bulk of the electrolysis baths needed a major overhaul. By now, some of these baths have been commissioned after major repairs.”

The source noted that expanding the variety of the plant’s products depends on the structure of orders and the technical feasibility of the production equipment.

“The plant started work on the development of products from new grades of aluminum with special properties,” the source added. “At the same time, it is economically feasible to increase the volume of orders for products from already mastered aluminum grades. At the moment, these two processes are in an active working phase. In addition to primary aluminum, aluminum ingots of a special alloy are produced at the plant, and they are supplied to the Sumgait Technological Park (STP). Since the beginning of this year, the company has sent 6,090 tons of aluminum ingots of a special alloy to STP.”

The plant operates at full capacity, and all the workshops of the enterprise are involved.

The plant produces primary and final aluminum products, as well as semi-finished products in the form of aluminum sheets.
