Trend:

While there have been talks over investment of Kuwaiti businessmen in Iran, however the strict regulations created problems in this field, the head of Iran-Kuwait joint Chamber of Commerce Hani Feysali told Trend.

"Currently no Kuwaiti investor is active in Iran," he said referring to strict regulations that had reduced the tendency in investors from Kuwait.

"In regards to foreign investment, no foreign investor is inclined to invest in Iran. Sudden regulations and decisions that occur every second have led to the fact that no investor would come to Iran," he said.

"For example the Arvand Free Zone that is located near Khorramshar and Abadan. It is a good investment opportunity. But while registering companies in other countries would take 20 minutes, it takes some six months in Iran, and there are so many certificates that also create obstacles in the process," he explained.

The official emphasized that facilitating the trade would resolve the problem and help move matters forward.

"Many investors would go, regionally, elsewhere. Meanwhile, the joint chambers don't have power, and the government should listen to our needs," said Feysali.

He stressed that in the current situation, Iran- Kuwait joint Chamber of Commerce so far has only worked to improve the ties.

Previously, Iran and the Kuwaiti investors have been conducting constant discussions over possible investments in the Islamic Republic.

The issue of $500-billion investment by Kuwait in Iran's oil industry has been brought up in the last Iranian year (started March 21, 2108), however the comments by the head of Iran- Kuwait joint chamber of commerce indicate the cooperation has not been successful so far.
