The fish breeding plant “Asni” operating in Kengerli district of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, plans to greatly increase fish breeding production in the near future, a source in the company told Trend.

The source noted that the company plans to increase this indicator to one million fish hatchlings next year.

“We cannot achieve such indicators until the end of this year, because we were not able to purchase the appropriate number of hatchlings from Iran for the further production of commercial fish,” the source added. “In June, the process of breeding fish hatchlings will begin, and within two-three months, the hatchlings will be released into lakes and rivers located on the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.”

The source noted that the plant is mainly engaged in the cultivation of fish species such as crucian carp and grass carp.

“Previously, the plant was also engaged in the sale of fish and the production of canned goods,” the source said. “The production of canned fish has been completely stopped, and the plant is exclusively engaged in fish breeding.”
