Retail trade turnover value nearly reaches $20B in Kazakhstan

The value of the retail trade in Kazakhstan has amounted to 7.042 trillion tenge (approximately $18.203 billion) in January-August 2019, which is 5.5 percent more compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan.

According to the data, the largest percentage in the total retail trade turnover accounts for individual entrepreneurs (42.9 percent). It is followed by small businesses (29.6 percent) and large businesses (19.1 percent). The least amount of the retail trade turnover accounts for medium businesses (8.4 percent).

Furthermore, the major part of the retail trade accounts for Almaty. Some 31.5 percent of the total trade turnover accounts for this city and the value of trade turnover here has also increased by 10.6 percent during the reporting period compared to the same period of 2018.

The major part of the retail trade turnover accounts for Nur-Sultan city (12.3 percent), East Kazakhstan region (9 percent) and Karaganda region (8.8 percent).
