By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed to hold talks with Turkmenistan regarding the situation around the mining project in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan, Trend reports citing Belta news agency.

The Belarusian side at the meetings will be headed by Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich.

“We need to meet with the officials who were involved in the construction there, first of all of the Garlyk plant, we need to get out of this situation with dignity,” the Belarus president said.

In March 2017, a solemn ceremony took place to launch the facility built by Belarusian Belgorkhimprom JSC at the foothills of Koytendag range in the Garlyk village in Turkmenistan, with a capacity of 1.4 million tons of potash fertilizers per year.

It was expected that the new production will satisfy the needs of Turkmen agriculture and will make it possible to export products in demand on the global market.

It was earlier reported at a government meeting in Turkmenistan that Belarus didn’t completely fulfill its contractual obligations when building the Garlyk plant for the production of potash fertilizers in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan.
