Iran will produce 3.2 million tons of grapes this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mohammad Ali Tahmasibi said.
More than 300,000 hectares account for vineyards in Iran, Tahmasibi added, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Agriculture Ministry's website.
He said that according to the program of setting up the vineyards, 30 percent accounts for raisins, 30 percent - for fresh fruits, and 40 percent – for grape storage.
In case of growing demand for grapes during such holidays as Novruz, it is possible to supply the required volume to the market, Tahmasibi said.
At the same time, the export of grapes will bring profit to producers, he added.
Tahmasibi said that low-interest loans were issued to businessmen to increase grape production and processing.
