Iran needs $3.5B for flare gas recovery in Khuzestan Province

Around $3.5 billion are required for flare gas recovery in Iran’s Khuzestan Province, Governor of Khuzestan Province Gholamreza Shariati told journalists, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

According to him, the fuel needed by the petrochemical facilities in Khuzestan Province can be supplied through this method.

Shariati added that $800 million were allocated to this end from the National Development Fund of Iran in the first phase.

The governor said that the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company is implementing the first phase.

"The Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company provides fuel for the petrochemical facilities through the Bid-Boland 2 refinery," he said.

Touching on the problem of supplying ethane fuel to the Amir Kabir Petrochemical Plant, the governor said that the plant should join the flare gas recovery project and pay a required sum of money in order to obtain sustainable fuel.
