Iran's Qeshm Cement plant exports 2,500 tons of cement to Somalia

Some 2,500 tons of cement were exported to Somalia from the Qeshm Cement Plant situated in Qeshm county of Iran’s southern Hormozgan province, head of development and trade department in Iran's Qeshm Free Trade Zone Hormuz Amiri said.

This cargo was exported by Pink Rose ship, Amiri added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

The value of the exported cement was not disclosed.

Amiri added that this cargo is the 5th cargo exported this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019).

So far, 104,000 tons of clinker have been exported from Qeshm to the United Arab Emirates within four phases, he added.

Qeshm Cement Plant was established in 2000 at the Qeshm Free Trade Zone. The plant produces 1,400 tons of cement daily. The plant exports its products to 13 Asian and African countries, including Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Egypt, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Oman, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan.

Some 204 industrial companies operate on the Qeshm island through the investments worth 14.09 trillion rials (about $335 million).

Qeshm county consists of Qeshm, Hormuz, Hangam and Lark islands in Hormozgan province and about 150,000 live there.
