Japan has expressed interest in increasing imports of fresh and dried fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan, by coordinating the interaction of quarantine control bodies of both countries, Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade.

As stated at a meeting of the Uzbekistan government delegation on October 3 in Tokyo with the Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Yoshihoro Kawano, the possibility of holding the next meeting of the joint working group to strengthen cooperation in the agricultural sector in November of this year was considered.

An initiative was also discussed to organize business seminars in Uzbekistan, aimed at agricultural producers in order to establish direct contacts and exchange experience between Uzbek and Japanese entrepreneurs and farmers.

In addition, the prospects of introducing advanced Japanese technologies in the field of agriculture and fisheries and the creation of innovative agricultural clusters with the aim of producing environmentally friendly products were discussed.

Following the results of negotiations, agreements were reached on cooperation in all designated areas through active interagency cooperation and the formation of a program of operational measures to implement the planned initiatives.
