Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan continues to grow

The total value of products sold to the Azerbaijani population through retail network in January-September 2019 increased by 3 percent and amounted to 27.6 billion manat compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.
During the reporting period, trade turnover worth 13.9 billion manat accounted for food products, soft drinks and tobacco products, while 13.6 billion manat - non-food items.
The value of the sold products increased by 2.6 and 3.3 percent in January-September 2019 compared to the same period last year.
In January-September, 45.9 percent of the population’s expenses accounted for food products, 4.7 percent - soft drinks and tobacco products, 18.1 percent - textiles, clothes and shoes, 6.2 percent - electrical goods and furniture, 5.5 percent - fuel, 1.3 percent - medicines and medical supplies, 0.8 percent - computers, telecommunications equipment, and 17.8 percent - other non-food items.
During the aforementioned period, 20.9 percent of consumer goods were sold by trading enterprises, 49.7 percent by private entrepreneurs and 29.41 percent at the markets and fairs.
The retail trade turnover of enterprises increased by 27.9 percent, while that of private entrepreneurs - by 0.6 percent while trade turnover of fairs decreased by 6.3 percent in January-September 2019 compared to the same period of 2018.
Furthermore, the average monthly retail turnover per capita amounted to 309.8 manat in January-September 2019, which is 13.5 manat more than during the same period of 2018.
On average, a resident of the country spent 156.7 manat each month on food products, soft drinks and tobacco products, while 153.1 manat on non-food items.
