Georgia intends to expand citrus export to new EU markets

Georgian tangerines will be exported to new markets in several EU member states this year, said Head of the Georgian Adjara region government Tornike Rizhvadze, Trend reports referring to the Georgian media outlets.
“We have traditional markets where we export tangerines. However, we have plans to export the product to several new markets in the EU this year", Rizhvadze said.
According to him, a coordination unit has opened in Georgia, which will improve interaction between farmers and the enterprises which receive the product for further export.
The coordination unit will work until February 1, 2020.
Rizhvadze added that 50-55,000 tonnes of tangerines are expected to be harvested this year and noted that up to 30 enterprises will receive the product, sort it and then export abroad.
