Wood processing volumes almost doubled in Azerbaijan from January through September 2019

From January through September 2019, the volume of industrial production (the volume of manufactured products and rendered industrial services) in Azerbaijan amounted to 34.7 billion manats, which is 1.7 percent more compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports on Oct. 18 referring to the country's State Statistics Committee.

The production in the non-oil sector of industry in Azerbaijan grew by 15.6 percent.

Some 69.9 percent of industrial goods were produced in the extractive sector, 25.2 percent accounted for the processing sector, 4.2 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam and 0.7 percent – for the water supply, waste treatment and recycling.

Oil production decreased by 2.8 percent, while gas production increased by 29.3 percent during the reporting period.

During the reporting period, wood processing and manufacturing of wood products grew by almost twofold, the production of finished metal products - by 78.1 percent, manufacturing of tobacco products - by 77.2 percent, the production of computer, electronic and optical products - by 77.2 percent, the production of beverages - by 40.4 percent, the textile production - by 39.2 percent, the production of furniture - by 29.5 percent, installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 28.2 percent, the production of chemicals - by 20.6 percent, the production of paper and cardboard - by 25 percent, the production of rubber and plastic products - by 26.1 percent, food production - by 15.1 percent, the production of pharmaceutical products – 12.6 percent, printing products - by 11.8 percent, production of machinery and equipment by 1.8 percent, the production of building materials - by 4.2 percent, the clothing production - by 10.6 percent.

Production of leather goods and footwear decreased by 25.2 percent, electrical equipment - by 11.1 percent, metallurgical products - by 14.6 percent, cars, trailers and semi-trailers - by 32.2 percent, other vehicles - by 11.9 percent, oil products – 1 percent.

The volume of the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 2.5 percent, while the volume of water supply, waste treatment and recycling – by 7.4 percent.
