Kazakhstan looks to expand list of exported goods to US

Value of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and US increased by 36 percent in 2018 compare to 2017 and amounted to $2.2 billion, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakh Ministry of Trade and Integration.

This was announced during bilateral meeting between Kazakh Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov and US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

Within the framework of the meeting parties talked issues of bilateral cooperation in areas of internal and foreign trade, export of goods and services, implementation of commerce and investment projects, joint projects with Tyson Foods, joint projects funding, issues of sanctions policy, electronic commerce, and on cooperation within World Trade Organization and Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.

US is one of the main strategic partners of Kazakhstan. Value of countries’ mutual trade turnover during first eight months of 2019 amounted to $1.4 billion, which is comparable to the value during the same period of last year.

With an idea of further development of trade and economic cooperation and maintaining of its positive dynamic, the proposal to continue joint work on expansion of exported goods and services list has been made.

Kazakh party suggested to increase Kazakhstan’s export to US by over $802.1 million or by 50 commodity headings.
