For the first time, container train on the Xi'an (China) - Istanbul (Turkey) - Prague (Czech Republic) route, which is an alternative to China - Europe – China route, went in transit via Kazakhstan’s Altynkol railway station, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ - Kazakhstan Railways).
This route became possible as a result of agreements reached by KTZ and The People's Government of Shaanxi Province within the framework of One Belt One Road initiative.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Board for Logistics of KTZ Pavel Sokolov, launch of the new container train is an example of strategic cooperation of railway administrations of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey as well as China that has organized the train on the route.
The KTZ transportation via Trans-Caspian International Transport Route has increased by 67 percent during first nine months of 2019. An important growth factor was the launch of feeder message from Aktau to Baku and back. The service has allowed Kazakh exporters to use this route to export goods to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, as well as to ports of Black and Mediterranean seas.
