17 countries ready to invest in Iran's Chabahar Port
TEHRAN, Iran, Oct.23
Trend:
Total of 17 foreign countries has expressed readiness to invest in Chabahar Port in southern Iran, while the government is negotiating to reduce mine exports tax from the port, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade said.
“These are the countries that attended international conference on Chabahar development in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, where a number of memorandums of understanding and agreements were signed," said Hossien Modares Khiabani, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The first target in Chabahar port is to have balance distribution of basic goods and its second goal is to use open waters. The private sector should be provided with advances to use the port's facilities," the deputy minister added.
"There have been various meetings over activation of mineral material exports via Chabahar Port, so that after ships unload cargo they can load mineral exports. As of today, 550,000 tons of good has been unloaded in the port," Khiabani noted.
"The ministry's main objective is to attract investment in Chabahar Port and develop its capacities. We suggested to increase customs discount in Chabahar Port from 10 percent to 25 percent," the official added.
"The private sector has announced that part of its imports and exports from other neighbor provinces has been transferred to this port. The ministry has defined 10 projects for the port including construction of warehouse and oil reservoirs," he said.
