Iran is to increase power production in East Azerbaijan province and improve the power transmission to industrial cities, said Deputy Energy Minister Homayoun Haeri.
"Our duty is to provide power to industrial cities, and provide equipment, electricity from power plants and cooperate with distribution companies," said Haeri, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The country has no problem in terms of power plants and power production. The only issue is transmitting electricity to consumers," he added.
The official has indicated the start of the Bonab Power Plant construction in East Azerbaijan Province that has been inaugurated two months ago.
"This is one of the new plants that has higher classification," he said.
"Exclusive solutions should be provided to resolve the problems concerning power transmission to industrial units. The private sector should also get involved, as far as power transmission goes," Haeri said.
