Kazakhstan one step closer to exploring space with Turkey

Kazakhstan has prepared a project of Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in area of space exploration activities with Turkey, Aerospace Committee of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defense and The Aerospace Industry (Kazcosmos) told Trend.

Earlier this year, Head of ROSCOSMOS Dmitry Rogozin offered Turkey to participate in work of Baikonur Cosmodrome spaceport in cooperation with Kazakhstan and Russia.

According to Rogozin, Turkey would work on the spaceport as a launching country.

“Kazakhstan proposed that Turkish spaceships use launching capacities, as well as that Turkey looks into possibility of implementing joint projects at Baikonur Cosmodrome. The proposal is being reviewed by the Turkish side,” the representative of the committee said.

According to the official, Kazakh party has prepared a project of the memorandum for cooperation in area of space exploration and submitted in to Turkish Space Agency.

“Currently the project is being reviewed by Turkish party,” the official said.

Turkish Space Agency was established in 2018. In accordance to the decree of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan the agency has its own budget, operates independently, and is responsible for the development and implementation of the National Space Program of Turkey.
