Iran and Italy are expected to continue bilateral economic cooperation more by expanding them to provinces, said Head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce.

"The economic interaction can continue within regional and provincial cooperation between small and medium-size businesses of the two countries," said Gholam Hossein Shafei, Trend reports referring to Iran's Chamber of Commerce website.

"Italy has been a good partner for Iran, but after sanctions the trade volume between two countries has dropped sharply, while the policy of two countries aims to develop ties," he noted during a meeting with Italian Ambassador in Iran Giuseppe Perrone in Mashhad.

"As businessmen, we criticize Europe reaction toward the sanctions. It was expected that the EU would support the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action; however, Italy has been different, and the country is important for Iran in terms of economic, cultural and political ties," head of Iran's chamber of commerce added.

"We are ready to use all the capacities to develop economic ties between two countries. The close distance from Khorasan Razavi Province to Central Asian countries and Afghanistan is a unique situation in the region. The province has considerable capacities in industrial, agricultural, mineral products and toursim sectors," Shafei indicated.

In turn, the Italian envoy has also noted the capacities of city of Mashhad and Khorasan Razavi Province.

"During our visits, we have witnessed valuable opportunities and infrastructures, city of Mashhad is very dynamic and has good capacities in economic sector, startups and many other fields," said Perrone.
