Kazakhs increase expenses on purchasing cars

The number of cars purchased by Kazakhs during the first nine months of 2019 amounted to 49,243 new passenger and light commercial vehicles worth 451.2 billion tenge ($1.1 billion), Trend reports with reference to KazAutoProm (local car manufacturing association) data.

The average cost of a purchased passenger car was 8.8 million tenge during the reporting period ($22,600), which is 5.6 percent more compared to the same period of last year. At the same time, the average cost of purchased car of Kazakh manufacturing was 6.6 million tenge ($17,021), whereas average cost of imported car was 10.9 million tenge ($28,110).

Based on results of three quarters of 2019, 27.6 percent of buyers preferred cars worth no more than five million tenge ($12,894) compared to 37 percent last year.

According to the data, top 10 of cheapest cars purchased by Kazakhs mostly consists of locally made cars - Lada Granta, Chevrolet Niva, Ravon Nexia, Lada 4x4, Ravon R4, Renault Logan, Renault Sandero, KIA Picanto, Renault Duster and JAC S3.

In nine months of 2019, Kazakhs spent 208.6 billion tenge ($534.7 million) to purchase cars of local manufacturing, which is 73.7 percent more than during the same period of last year. List of most popular cars in Kazakhstan includes Lada, Hyundai, KIA, Ravon and Skoda. Most popular cars of local manufacturing are Lada Granta, Hyundai Tucson, Lada Vesta, Lada 4x4 and Hyundai Accent.

The input of industry’s ventures to the Kazakhstan’s GDP during the reporting period reached 229 billion tenge (approximately $587.07 million), which is 57.9 percent more than last year. Investments of industry’s ventures to the fixed capital amounted to 1.7 billion tenge ($4.3 million).
