TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.1

Trend:

Iran and Iraq have synchronized their power networks on Nov. 1 under an agreement signed to reduce power cut in Iraq and increase electricity transaction, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

The energy ministers of two countries Reza Ardakanian and Qasim Al Fahdawi have agreed in 2018 to implement three synchronization plans for Iran and Iraq power networks by the end of 2019.

The synchronization of power networks was launched on Nov. 1 in order to reduce Iraq's power grid losses up to 30 percent by the end of 2020 , and to compensate the lack of power production in Iraq via help of Iranian companies by 2021.

Synchronization is the process of matching the speed and frequency of a generator or other source to a running network. Synchronization of Iran and Iraq power networks will connect the two networks without imposing pressure on the current.

Iran's Deputy Energy Minister Homayoun Haeri has indicated during the launching ceremony that there are further plans to synchronize Iran, Iraq and Syria's power networks.

"Iran's power industry plays an effective role in the region and will increase it in the future," he said.
